There have been some reports that the Royal family is not a fan of how Princess Diana is being portrayed on the TV show, The Crown. That being said, the actress who plays her, Emma Corrin, responded.
As it turns out, the 24 year old star really hopes The Crown’s viewers appreciate the series for what it is.
While a guest on Tamron Hall, Emma Corrin talked about portraying the iconic and beloved royal on the fourth season of The Crown, that just started!
At some point during the same interview, the host asked the actress about the reports that royal family members as well as some British Parliament members, are not happy with how the Netflix series depicts Lady Di, especially her marriage with Prince Charles, which ended in divorce!
In response, she said that ‘It’s a difficult one. I think for everybody in The Crown, we always try and remind everyone that the series that we’re in is fictionalized, to a great extent. Obviously, it has roots in reality and in some fact, but Peter Morgan’s scripts are works of fiction.’
At the same time, the actress does think that it’s valid some of the show’s fans struggle to accept that the production team has taken narrative liberties when it comes to the beloved Princess Diana’s life.

‘At the same time, I understand why people would be upset because this is history. And even with Diana, it’s still very much fresh, I suppose—everything that happened. So I do really understand if people would be upset. We approach these people that we play as just characters, which is why it is such a joyous job because Peter writes very rich and complex characters. And as an actor, it’s such a joy to really bring a lot to them,’ the British actress explained.
